Support for people with Parkinson’s Disease. Under the guidance of program Director Dr. Quincy Almeida, the CARESPACE Parkinson Disease (and Neurodegenerative Disorder) Program brings together a dedicated team of multidisciplinary regulated health professionals who collaborate together to develop personalized coordinated health plans for people with Parkinson’s. Disease progression is measured and tracked using the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) and health plans are adjusted as required.

Dr. Almeida leads a team of regulated health professionals including Physiotherapists, Kinesiologists, Chiropractors, Dietitians, Massage Therapists, Naturopathic Doctors, Counsellors and Social Workers. The team collaborates both together and with you to develop achievable goals. With coordinated care you can track your progression, get the best evidence-based advice and support with health plans personalized for your own unique situation. The Initial Assessment is an intensive hour and a half appointment with Dr. Almeida that will include taking your history and completing several assessments and analysis which will result in providing you with a baseline Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) score. Based on the outcome, Dr. Almeida will provide personalized education* on topics such as drug interaction, food digestion and exercise. Where appropriate, he will also provide referrals to other members of the team for follow up visits.

PD SAFEx technology is a set of sensory attention-focused exercises developed by Dr. Quincy Almeida, BSc, MSc, PhD who is the Director of the CARESPACE Health+Wellness Parkinson’s Program, was developed as a Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, and the Director of the Movement and Disorder Research & Rehabilitation Centre (MDRC) in Waterloo Canada.
