Description

Provide one-one physiotherapy assessment and treatment for Parkinson’s Disease in clinic or in-home. Treatments may focus on improving ease of function in activities of daily living, improving walking and balance, reducing / preventing falls, improving posture, education, pain management, strengthening, stretching, myofascial release, exercise recommendations, Parkinson specific exercise including LSVTBIG and / or PWR!Moves, Nordic and Urban pole walking.

Area of Expertise

Susan is an experienced neuro-physiotherapist with 25 years of training and experience in neurological physiotherapy. She is Advanced Bobath trained and uses a combined treatment approach incorporating Myofascial Release, Craniosacral therapy, and normal movement facilitation techniques. She has achieved expert level in the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release curriculum. Susan is passionate about working with people with Parkinson’s disease and helping them improve their quality of life. She is certified as an LSVTBIG clinician, a research-based exercise protocol for Parkinson’s. As well, she is a trained PWR! Clinician (Parkinson Wellness Recovery). Susan has trained in the “Rock steady Method” of using boxing techniques as an intense exercise to impact Parkinson’s Disease. Susan is also a consultant volunteering her time presenting to various Parkinson’s support groups including Parkinson Canada’s (Eastern branch) annual symposium, Telehealth Ontario and she has volunteered at retreats for people with Parkinson’s and their care partners at both the PWR! Retreat in Arizona and the inaugural Spinning Wheels retreat in Ontario.
